Title: Drivers and Barriers in FAIR Data Sharing:The State of Open Science in Japan 2022
Abstract: The National Institute of Science and Technology Policy (NISTEP) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) conducted an online questionnaire survey of 1,675 researchers belonging to the Science and Technology Experts Network from October to November 2022. The survey is part of “The State of Open Science in Japan”, which has been conducted biennially since 2016. The analysis focused on responses from 1,159 researchers currently engaged in research activities out of 1,237 valid responses (response rate: 73.9%). The responses were analyzed by research field (including Humanities, based on the classification of Essential Science Indicators (ESI) by Clarivate Analytics), age group, and affiliated institution. The results were compared with the survey data from 2016, 2018, and 2020.
